This is a great day in my life!
At the exact moment that I am writing this, the new « wwwalk.org » is being transferred from my computer to the remote server... finally!
Following that, I will have to check everything and then transfer the Domain Name and... we are up and rolling!
Of course, the site is not complete... it will never be because there is new material and improvement to be added almost every day!
But I am happy to say that I have accomplished what I set out to do and this I can offer to my man as a present for his 47th birthday and the second anniversary of his wwwalk, all happening on August 18th.
Jean is now walking in the Atacama Desert, in Chile! He was told that it was the hottest and driest desert in the world!!! In the latest mail I received from him, he was preparing very carefully for his walk in the desert!
Now, I want to share with you, an email I received following the July newsletter:
«Hi Luce,
I just wanted to let you know how much I and my friends appreciate and enjoy hearing updates on Jean's progress. My friend Ana Pena and I (Carol Garriott) met Jean when he was passing through Port Lavaca, Texas, way back in February 2001.
After he started on his way again, a few days later, I was a bit distressed that evening, worrying about his safety. Would he be OK in strange places and big cities? So alone he looked, disappearing down the road.
That night, in my sleep, I dreamed about seeing him head out from Port Lavaca. In my dream, I saw him walking away down the road, and he was totally enclosed in a large "bubble."
When I awoke, I was awestruck by the vividness of my dream. I knew immediately what the "bubble" represented: it was a sphere of safe-ness around him, generated by his essential goodness, the purity of his mission, and the best wishes and prayers of EVERYONE he meets! The farther he walks, the larger the "safe bubble" becomes, with the addition of each person's "God speed!" he receives.
I thought you would like to hear this little story. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Jean. I do believe that one person can change the world. Jean is changing every one he comes in contact with. Thank you, thank you, for having the courage to share him with the world!
Bye, only for now,
Carol Garriott and Ana Pena»
If you want to check how happy he is, browse the Website under "Media" and look at his photo from the magazine "SOMOS" in Lima, Peru. It seems that "Happiness" is just oozing out of him!
Now, since this is not a perfect world, we have bad news! Jean was in need of new shoes in Bolivia! So, I contacted his sponsor, H.H. Brown of Canada and was told the company has been sold and doesn't exist as such anymore! How sad! Thank you just the same H.H. Brown!!! If anyone of you knows of a company that would relieve H.H. Brown in supplying the shoes for Jean, please do not hesitate to let us know as Jean is now in need of financial help!
In the very beginning of the wwwalk, Jean and I wanted to create a Foundation as a mean of promoting the wwwalk and receiving donations... Well, we have been looking very carefully into this matter and we have finally abandoned this project. We simply do not have the means to do it, be it financially, with regards to the work and the time necessary for its administration, etc... Besides, there already exist a wide range of Foundations dedicated to the children... why duplicate the work? The point is finding one who would be interested in including the wwwalk in their sphere of activities... Again, if any of you has ideas about this touchy subject, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What will be the next great and exciting news???
Luce
