Ha! Ha! I can just hear your mind gears clicking! What happened? After 9 weeks of faithfully reporting, she stopped!!! No notice! Nothing!
• Has Jean stopped his walk?
• Did he have an accident or illness?
• Did he go back home?
• Is Luce ill?
• Did she loose interest in writing these weekly updates?
• Has she gone to meet Jean not minding to keep us up to date?
Well, to all of these questions, the answer is NO!!! (Thank the Lord for that)
It just so happened that Jean and I didn't get to speak to each other for a little while and so, I didn't know where he was or what he was doing... Needless to say I have some writing to do!!!
Now, lets go back one page on our monthly calendar. On October 20th, Jean arrives at the Oratory in Rock Hill, SC. It started on October 12th, when Fr.Valtiera, in Rock Hill wrote me this email:
"Hello
Steve Olsen from Hawaii and the Oratory there gave me the story about Jean. If he will be near Rock Hill, SC, a little south of Charlotte, NC we would be glad to give him hospitality here.
Blessings
Fr David Valtierra"
Isn't that nice, Jean journey's is known all the way to Hawaii. Too bad he is not going there.
So, after a few email exchanges, Jean accepted the invitation. Upon his arrival, he was given a room and there he stayed in the silence of a House of Retreat for 3 days. He phoned me from there and said he enjoys those places where he can write, rest, pray and think about the pertinence of what he is doing.
Monday, the 23rd, he left the tranquility of the Oratory and headed toward Chester. There he met the Firemen's Chief, Terry D. Tinker who referred him to Reverend Dwight L. Person who, through the Associated Reform Presbyterian Church, offered him a motel room, free of charge. Just to say there is mankind and there are kind men!!!
On the 24th, he reached Carlisle, SC and entered the Sumter National Forest where he camped in his tent amidst the tall trees. The next day, he kept on walking through the forest and pitched his tent a little bit north of Clinton, SC. Also on the 24th, in Rock Hill, The Herald published a wonderful story on Jean, thanks to the pen of Andrew Dys. The next step for me is to get a scanner so you can all see the wonderful stories that are not published online.
And this week ends just south of Cross Hill, SC where Jean slept in his tent.
Till next week...
Luce
