In New York City for a whole week now, Jean plans to leave early, Monday the 11th. Writing letters to loved ones, getting his diary updated, resting and eating well, he is ready to start another stage of his trip.
Monday evening, just before crossing to Perth Amboy on Staten Island, he is invited to stay the night at Marge and Bill Bonamo's house. Bill speaks a little bit of French, which is a treat for Jean.
Tuesday, the 12th Jean goes through the City of Perth Amboy where he stops at the City Hall for a chat and ask Jennifer Sciortino, Public Information Officer to inform Luce of his high spirits and well being, which she did promptly. Thank you Jennifer! When the light starts to go down, in late afternoon, Jean starts looking for a place to stay. Not much luck... In the darkness, near New Brunswick NJ, he enters what looks like a small chapel with the door open. It was a mausoleum. It was quiet and everybody slept very deeply.
Wednesday, the 13 (lucky day?) in Trenton, he met Rose Lowe who invited him to her house for the night. Deep sleep but livelier environment than the night before. Somehow, in Trenton, he met Pat Frasier who brought Jean to her home on Thursday. Pat lives in the historic old village of Whitebog, in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, which was fine with Jean who loves History, but Pat has three cats and Jean is allergic to cats...
Fortunately, a friend of Pat, Gary Algier brought Jean to his home for the night after a nice dinner. Gary lives in Mt Laurel, NJ. Gary sent nice photos that you can see on Jean's Web site.
Till next week...
Luce
